About the Role
Amazon Cabling Infrastructure & Technology is a growing and innovative global team designing and implementing ICT infrastructure to support Amazon's corporate offices. Operational excellence is central to our approach, raising the bar across all aspects of project delivery to provide a seamless IT experience.
We are seeking an exceptional Design Engineer/Project Manager with a successful track record in low voltage structured cabling. This office-based role requires collaboration with design consultants and internal customers to standardize structured cabling and server room designs, accelerating delivery and reducing costs across building launches.
The role demands an experienced professional with a strong background in structured cabling design and oversight, combined with broad IT knowledge including networking, WiFi, AV, Security, PDU, UPS, and Smart Building technologies. You will drive continuous improvement, ensuring ICT infrastructure compliance with Amazon and industry standards, ready for building occupation.
You will manage stakeholder expectations, budgets, schedules, and scope, demonstrating ownership, critical thinking, and a bias for action. This is an opportunity to leverage and grow your expertise in a collaborative environment with direct impact on Amazon and its customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with internal teams to select Design Consultants and Low Voltage Contractors
- Identify and implement cost-saving design opportunities
- Review pricing requests and renegotiate bids
- Implement vendor-agnostic design and implementation standards
- Update budget tracking tools and refine infrastructure design materials
- Coordinate supply chain forecasts and work across time zones
- Review consultant progress reports and host update meetings
- Identify and resolve risks on critical paths
- Support Vendor Manager with operational metrics for QBRs
- Serve as main point of contact for escalations and recommendations
- Travel 20% to meet stakeholders, vendors, and project sites
- Train LVCs and Design Consultants on Amazon specifications
- Attend progress and room-ready meetings, collaborating with QAQC
- Participate in infrastructure lifecycle planning and design
- Communicate timely and clearly with stakeholders
- Develop, track, and report project metrics as needed
A Day in the Life:
Standardizing structured cabling infrastructure while collaborating across disciplines, reviewing design proposals, identifying cost optimizations, coordinating with global stakeholders, mentoring consultants and contractors, hosting progress meetings, and updating tracking tools to keep leadership informed on budget, schedule, and risk. Balancing strategic planning with hands-on problem-solving to deliver high-quality results on time and within budget.
Experience
- 5+ years delivering and coordinating corporate office fit-outs from design concept through deployment and close out
- 5+ years ICT design experience
- 5+ years working with Audio Visual, WiFi, fiber optic components, copper cabling, and interconnect products, technologies, and standards
- Experience in MS Excel, Word, and Windows Operating Systems
- Project management experience including prioritizing, planning, and managing multiple projects
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities
- Experience communicating with customers, technical, regulatory, business teams, and management
- BICSI Certification or internationally recognized equivalent

Qualifications
- BICSI Certification or internationally recognized equivalent required
- Preferred certifications: Project Management Professional (PMP), Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD), Certified Network Infrastructure Technician (CNIT), Certified Network Infrastructure Design Professional (CNIDP), Certified Telecommunications Project Management (CTPM)
- Experience reading and interpreting construction specifications and drawings
- Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, or other CAD tools preferred
