About the Role
We are seeking a creative Digital Content Producer to help tell the story of the Department for Education’s work through engaging social media and digital content. This fast-paced role involves creating audience-first content that brings education priorities to life across digital channels using graphic design, short-form video, clear copywriting and platform-native storytelling.
You will create engaging visual, written and multimedia content including graphics, short-form video edits, animations and platform-native formats. You will develop creative ideas for campaigns and everyday content using audience insight, performance data and social media trends.
The role requires turning complex information into clear, accurate and accessible content for different audiences and writing engaging copy for social posts, videos, graphics and other digital content.
You will collaborate with colleagues across communications, policy and ministerial teams to develop content from brief to publication, using insight and evaluation to understand what works and improve future content.
Supporting content planning, publishing and scheduling will also be part of your responsibilities.
Additionally, you will share creative ideas, solve content problems and help colleagues understand what makes effective social media content. You will work collaboratively with content creators and influencers and adapt content for different audiences, including internal and wider education sector audiences.
You will explore and test AI-powered and emerging creative tools, sharing practical recommendations for responsible and effective use to improve ideas, production and workflow.
This role does not require previous government experience; we value creativity, judgement, writing skills and the ability to make clear, engaging content for diverse audiences.

Requirements

Experience
Relevant experience in social media content and production is welcomed. Demonstrable knowledge and experience of creating engaging content for social media and understanding how different formats work across platforms is essential.
Good understanding of graphic design and confidence using graphic design or creative production tools such as Adobe Creative Suite or equivalent software is required, along with a working knowledge of basic video editing or motion graphics.
Ability to write clearly and accurately, turning complex information into engaging, accessible copy and content is essential.
In-depth understanding of social media platforms, audience behaviour, content trends and emerging creative techniques, and how to use them in an organisational setting is required.
Comfortable using insight, evaluation and performance data to make content decisions and improve future work.
Strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work well with others, explain ideas clearly and respond constructively to feedback.
Ability to manage a demanding workload, coordinate multiple projects simultaneously, respond to changing priorities and deliver high-quality content to deadlines.
Passion for public service and interest in how digital communications can help people understand government work.
Enthusiasm and keen interest in emerging creative technologies, including AI-powered tools, with the ability to demonstrate how new tools, platforms or techniques could improve content creation, engagement or ways of working.

About you
Creative, adaptable and able to produce clear, engaging content for diverse audiences.
Collaborative team player with strong communication skills.
Organised and able to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Committed to public service values and ethical use of emerging technologies.
Open to flexible working patterns and able to work a minimum of 30 hours per week over 4 days.

Qualifications
No specific qualifications are mandated for this role; however, relevant experience and demonstrable skills in digital content production, graphic design, video editing and social media management are essential.
A passion for continuous learning and adapting to new digital tools and trends is highly valued.
