About the Role
The Wellcome Trust is a global charitable foundation dedicated to improving health for everyone by funding science, leading policy and advocacy campaigns, and building partnerships. Over the next ten years, Wellcome plans to invest £16bn to support new discoveries in life, health, and wellbeing, focusing on three global health challenges: mental health, infectious disease, and climate and health. These challenges require bold science and collaborative efforts beyond science alone.
You will join Wellcome Trust's Content Team within the Communications function, part of the Corporate Affairs directorate, reporting to the Content Lead. You will collaborate closely with colleagues across Wellcome Trust and Wellcome Collection's communications teams.
As Digital Marketing Manager, you will be responsible for all paid marketing and media activity as well as newsletter programmes for Wellcome Trust. You will lead the development and delivery of a unified digital marketing strategy and coordinate an organisation-wide approach to audience growth, engagement, and conversion. Your role ensures Wellcome's paid activity and email communications reach the right people, at the right time, with the right message.
Your key responsibilities include championing best practices in digital marketing, building organisational capability, and aligning all activity with Wellcome's mission, brand, and strategic priorities. You will use data, experimentation, and AI-enabled insights to optimise performance, strengthen Wellcome's reputation, and deepen engagement with partners, the academic community, and new audiences.
You will work closely with the Wellcome Collection Comms & Marketing team to develop a shared understanding of digital advertising channels and paid media, ensure consistent use of first- and third-party data, and share channel and audience insights. Collaborating with the Content Lead, you will explore all avenues to reach new audiences through search, social, display and video ads, sponsored content, influencer ads, and out-of-home campaigns, ensuring efficiency and impact.
You will oversee planning, buying, and optimisation across paid search, paid social, display, video, native, and emerging channels. Working with programme, brand, content, and product teams, you will ensure paid activity supports organisational priorities and reaches priority audiences. You will manage relationships with media agencies, platform managers, and external partners to ensure high-quality delivery and value for money.
Additionally, you will lead a unified newsletter strategy across Wellcome Trust and Wellcome Collection, ensuring communications to partners, the academic community, and new audiences are coherent, targeted, and impactful. You will maintain a digital marketing calendar covering paid and email/newsletter activity, coordinating and integrating with organic content plans and wider communications, in close partnership with the digital channels manager.
