About the Role
Croydon Council is one of the largest London boroughs, committed to providing safe transportation for its Special Educational Needs (SEN) clientele to and from school. This is an exciting opportunity to join our in-house passenger transport service, delivering vital services to over 360,000 residents and approximately 14,000 businesses.

Travel and transport within Croydon has evolved significantly over the past three years with a clear strategy to manage increasing demand and create an alternative travel model that offers clients more choice and independence.

We are recruiting a minibus driver to safely transport young people and adults with SEN. The role requires commitment to delivering a high-quality service to this vulnerable client group, operating according to prepared schedules or as directed, and assisting passengers with care and consideration.

This permanent, part-time role operates during term time only and requires flexibility within core service hours and outside normal office hours as part of a rota. The successful candidate will be required to wear a uniform and undergo an enhanced DBS check.

Experience
- Previous experience driving passenger transport vehicles, preferably with young people or adults requiring care
- Knowledge of Road Traffic Acts and Highway Code
- Experience assisting passengers with care and consideration
- Ability to keep accurate records and write brief incident reports
- Ability to manage and diffuse difficult situations effectively
- Ability to liaise tactfully and diplomatically between home and school

Qualifications
- Appropriate "D" driving licence with PCV entitlement for the vehicle being driven
- Completed MIDAS and First Aid training
