Hours
Full time, including a combination of early, late and split shifts to support early years buildings opening and closing times. Some Saturday shifts may be required with enhanced payment for any overtime hours. Night shifts are not required.
Salary
£30,288 - £32,070 per annum (Grade ME06)
About the Role
Merton Early Years and Children’s Centre service is seeking an experienced and reliable caretaker to work across a group of buildings in Merton. The successful candidate will take pride in ensuring our buildings and grounds provide a safe and positive environment for children, families, and staff. The right applicant will be a good team member who can also work using their own initiative.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Carrying out security procedures such as opening/unlocking and closing/locking early years buildings
- Regularly checking alarms, fire equipment, and emergency exits
- Responding to Health & Safety issues and carrying out general repairs and maintenance during operational hours
- Performing some grounds maintenance duties such as weeding, litter picking, and tidying
Experience
Prior experience working in a similar caretaking or facilities role on public premises is required. Experience as a tradesperson or in a maintenance role is preferred but not essential.
About you
You will have strong written and verbal communication skills and be reliable and proactive. You must be able to work a flexible shift pattern including early, late, split, and occasional Saturday shifts. Being a good team player with the ability to use your own initiative is essential.
Qualifications
Health & Safety and First Aid qualifications are desirable but not essential.
