About the Role
The Educational Mental Health Practitioner will work autonomously and responsibly, under appropriate supervision, delivering evidence-based interventions for children and young people in educational settings experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties. The role involves supporting children and young people with more severe problems to access specialist services rapidly and facilitating education staff to identify and manage mental health and wellbeing issues. Working closely within education environments, the post holder will improve access to specialist mental health services and collaborate with key stakeholders including Designated Mental Health Leads, school settings, Mental Health Support Teams, Clinical Supervisors, CAMHS providers, and colleagues from AllKind.

Key responsibilities include assessing and delivering outcome-focused interventions, supporting children, young people, families, and educators in self-management of difficulties, and developing intervention plans collaboratively. The role requires adherence to inclusive values respecting diversity, managing risk assessments and safeguarding protocols, and maintaining clear, professional records in line with health and education service standards.

The practitioner will also provide guided self-help psychological treatments, manage their own caseload, attend multidisciplinary meetings, and contribute to the development of clinical and training materials. They will engage in ongoing training, supervision, and professional development to ensure safe and effective practice.

Professional responsibilities include maintaining high standards of practice, confidentiality, risk communication, and participation in performance reviews and continuous professional development. The role demands a collaborative approach and responsiveness to supervision and service governance requirements.

Requirements

Experience
Experience working with children and young people in mental health or educational settings is desirable. Ability to deliver evidence-based psychological interventions and manage a caseload effectively is essential. Experience in risk assessment, safeguarding, and multi-agency collaboration is required.
