About the Role
As an Educational Mental Health Practitioner, you will work autonomously with appropriate supervision to deliver evidence-based interventions for children and young people in educational settings experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties. You will support children and young people presenting with more severe problems to access specialist services rapidly and facilitate education staff in identifying and managing mental health and wellbeing issues. Working collaboratively within education environments, you will help improve access to specialist mental health services.

You will engage in therapeutic assessment and intervention by assessing and delivering outcome-focused, evidence-based treatments, working respectfully alongside education staff. You will support children, young people, families, and educators in self-managing difficulties and developing intervention plans. Your practice will be inclusive, respecting diversity, and you will operate within agreed local and national referral protocols.

Risk assessment and management are key responsibilities, adhering to safeguarding protocols and local procedures. You will maintain clear, professional records and contribute to data collection requirements. You will also assess issues related to transitions, education, and employment within the therapeutic process and work collaboratively with relevant stakeholders.

In addition, you will contribute to the development of clinical and training materials and apply learning from training programs directly to practice. You will prepare and present caseload information for supervision, respond to feedback, and engage in personal development supervision to enhance your competencies.

Professional standards are paramount; you will maintain confidentiality, communicate risks appropriately, and participate in regular performance reviews and continuous professional development. You will keep up to date with the latest theoretical and service delivery models and attend relevant educational opportunities aligned with your professional objectives.
