Up to £50,400 (£42,000 + 20% shift allowance) depending on experience
About the Role
Renishaw offers an exciting opportunity to take responsibility for the development, support, and improvement of printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) and test processes. The manufacturing environment is dynamic, high mix, and high volume, employing a vast range of technologies, materials, and the latest generations of automated process equipment.
This role allows you to make a significant impact on the capability, productivity, and efficiency of production lines that create assemblies critical to the success of every major product line in Renishaw’s business.
The position is varied and requires the development and demonstration of multiple skills including PCBA-industry technical knowledge, structured problem solving, data analysis, and effective communication at different levels.
Key responsibilities include:
- Investigating process problems and performing root-cause analysis with implementation of robust corrective actions within challenging deadlines
- Leading continuous improvement activities using fact-based metrics
- Analyzing process performance data to justify improvement actions
- Proactively developing processes to enhance robustness, reduce product cost and cost of quality, improve process control and efficiency, reduce waste, and deskill processes
- Creating and validating PCBA manufacturing processes and recipes following best industry practices on leading automated platforms
While candidates with process or production experience will have an advantage, capable engineering problem-solvers seeking development opportunities in a challenging and fascinating role are encouraged to apply.
Qualifications
Minimum of a degree (2:1 or above) in a relevant technical discipline such as electronics engineering, manufacturing systems, mechanical engineering, physics, or mathematics, or HNC/HND level education plus relevant experience
Experience
- High level of PC literacy
- Printed circuit board (PCB) assembly process or production experience (desirable)
- PCB electrical test process support or creation experience (desirable)
- Successful application of structured problem solving and statistical analysis techniques (e.g. Six Sigma) (desirable)
- Awareness of lean manufacturing tools and techniques and understanding of production metrics such as productivity, efficiency, and waste (desirable)
