About the Role
Stroud District Council is seeking an enthusiastic, skilled and resourceful Environmental Protection Officer specialising in Animal Welfare to join our busy, friendly and professional Animal Welfare Team. You will be responsible for enforcing a wide range of legislation and providing advice in line with Council policy and government requirements. This role involves promoting and protecting public and animal health and welfare across statutory and non-statutory areas.
You will work in a variety of settings and subject areas, thriving in a busy environment and enjoying a challenge. The role requires direct interaction with the public, handling service requests, and working with diverse communities, stakeholders, and businesses.

Experience
Experience in animal handling and enforcement interventions is essential. Proven ability to work with a range of communities, stakeholders, and businesses. Experience in a role requiring direct public interaction and handling service requests is highly desirable.
About you
You will be thorough, diligent, and have a genuine interest in solving problems related to animal welfare and public health. Excellent communication skills and good literacy are required, along with the ability to produce and maintain accurate records. Proficiency in IT, including MS Office applications, is necessary. A full UK driving licence is essential. You must demonstrate a real passion for animal welfare and providing excellent customer service.
Qualifications
Applicants should ideally hold a recognised Animal Welfare qualification, preferably a Level 3 Ofqual recognised Animal Inspectors Qualification.
