About the Role
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Live Journalism/Events and the Head of Production, the Events Manager will coordinate and execute the physical and technical delivery of The Telegraph's live journalism portfolio. You will bring editorial concepts to life as high-impact live experiences, managing everything from intimate newsroom briefings to large-scale festivals. Responsibilities include day-to-day planning, coordination, and on-site delivery of each event, ensuring all are executed to the highest professional standards, on time, and within budget.
Key responsibilities:
- Translate event concepts into detailed operational plans
- Liaise closely with editorial and marketing teams to ensure feasibility and budget adherence
- Coordinate all technical aspects including AV setup, lighting, stage design, and livestreaming infrastructure
- Maintain brand aesthetic consistency across all physical touchpoints
- Research, source, and manage venues, third-party production agencies, and ticketing vendors
- Assist with contract negotiations to maximize value for money
- Act as main stage manager or lead coordinator on-site, managing floor schedules, technicians, freelancers, and front-of-house staff
- Create and track master production timelines, coordinating with internal teams to meet deadlines
- Complete event safety documentation including risk assessments and crowd management plans
- Manage day-to-day event expenses, track costs against budget, and process supplier invoices
Experience
Proven experience managing mid-to-large-scale events, ideally within media, news, agency, or high-end corporate environments.
About you
Strong technical competence with a solid understanding of AV setup, livestreaming, staging, and digital ticketing platforms.
Demonstrated ability to manage external suppliers, freelancers, and venue staff effectively.
Exceptional project management skills with the ability to balance multiple moving parts simultaneously.
A proactive problem-solver who remains calm under pressure and can make quick, effective decisions in a fast-paced live environment.
Qualifications
Relevant qualifications or certifications in event management or production are advantageous but not essential.
