About the Role
Join Our Families First Transformation
As part of the ambitious Families First Social Care Reform Programme, we are recruiting Family Group Conference (FGC) Practitioners to strengthen family-led decision-making and deliver better outcomes for children, young people and families.

As a Family Group Conference Practitioner, you will coordinate and facilitate high-quality Family Group Conferences, enabling families to develop their own safe and sustainable plans for children and young people.

You will work closely with children, families, social workers and partners across Health, Education, Police and the voluntary sector, promoting restorative and family-led approaches. You will also contribute to developing practice across the service by providing training, coaching and consultation to practitioners and partners.

Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate Family Group Conferences that place children and families at the centre of decision-making.
- Support families to identify strengths, develop solutions and create safe, realistic plans.
- Promote family reunification and strengthen family networks wherever appropriate.
- Manage a caseload of FGC referrals, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery.
- Meet with children, families and professionals to prepare for and coordinate conferences.
- Chair FGC meetings with independence, neutrality and a child-focused approach.
- Produce clear, high-quality plans and reports within agreed timescales.
- Deliver training, workshops and awareness sessions on family-led practice and restorative approaches.
- Provide coaching, mentoring and consultation to social workers and partner agencies.
- Contribute to the ongoing development and quality improvement of the FGC service.

This is a unique opportunity to be part of the Families First reforms and help shape a service that places families at the heart of decision-making. You will join a passionate and supportive team committed to achieving the best possible outcomes for children through collaboration, empowerment and innovation.
