About the Role
The Family Wellbeing Service aims to provide early help to families to prevent difficulties from escalating. The service supports children and families from 0 to 18 years old through family key workers who provide advice, help, and support for up to three months, with the possibility of extension to six months for more intensive support.
The post holder will deliver an intensive, targeted, high-quality whole-family service for families identified as having children and young people at risk of poor outcomes or escalating to high need statutory services. This specialist role requires experience in supporting families with challenging behaviour and multi-agency working.
The role involves working flexibly across a range of specialisms including parental domestic violence, parental mental health, parental substance misuse, and children at risk of school exclusion. The keyworker will provide practical support and advice to families ranging from low to high complex needs.
Through comprehensive assessments, the worker will help families make informed decisions, develop SMART family support plans, and support their implementation to improve outcomes and life chances for children and families in Bexley.
The post holder will also deliver training and input in specialist areas to colleagues and other professionals to support service objectives. While there is no direct supervisory responsibility, the role may involve assisting with induction and training of peers and new employees.
