About the Role
At fin-house, we are fuelling startups, scaleups and SMEs with exceptional finance teams. Unlike traditional outsourcing to distant accountancy firms, we embed our finance experts directly within our clients’ businesses to provide proactive insight, advice and commercial support. This enables clients to make the right decisions at the right time with a seamlessly integrated finance function.

As a Finance Assistant, you will keep the finance engine running day-to-day by processing transactions, invoices and reconciliations with accuracy and pace, ensuring numbers are clear, complete and reliable. Working across multiple clients, you will manage inboxes, payment runs and month-end tasks with strong organisation and attention to detail. You will do more than just process numbers—you will understand why the work matters and help build the solid foundations that empower the wider team to drive insight, strategy and growth.

This is no ordinary finance role. You will help transform the finance function into a value-adding machine by supporting the implementation and evolution of scalable systems and processes. You will process day-to-day transactions efficiently to minimise manual work and be at the forefront of innovation in the finance function, making a real impact on every organisation you support. You will gain extensive experience across a wide variety of industries and sectors, working with exciting startups and impact-driven organisations. We will support your career development with a purposeful plan and ongoing mentoring.

Your Day-to-Day
Effectively and efficiently manage multiple client accounts across your designated portfolio to meet weekly and monthly deadlines.
Manage between 3-5 client finance inboxes and maintain ongoing communications with external and internal stakeholders.
Create prepayment and accrual month-end schedules and post corresponding journals on Xero or equivalent finance systems.
Process invoices through Dext (expense management software), ensuring approval chains are satisfied and costs are correctly tagged before submission.
Understand the basics of compiling VAT returns and correctly record transactions.
Prepare monthly depreciation journals and maintain the fixed asset register.
Reconcile multiple bank accounts and communicate effectively to resolve queries.
Raise sales invoices and perform credit control to ensure timely payments.
Prepare payment runs on a weekly, bi-weekly or monthly basis and coordinate approvals with relevant stakeholders.

Requirements

Experience
1-3 years’ experience in a finance-related role.
Experience with Xero and/or QuickBooks is ideal.
Experience working with a portfolio of clients is desirable.
Proficient in Excel and/or Google Sheets.

About You
You care about delivering great work and adding real value to clients through accurate, thoughtful finance delivery.
You are a supportive teammate who contributes to a collaborative culture and enjoys helping others succeed.
You pick up new tools and processes quickly and adapt well to change.
You are naturally curious, enjoy understanding how things work and spotting patterns in numbers.
You communicate clearly and professionally with good spelling, grammar and attention to detail.
You stay organised and dependable, managing your time well and keeping on top of your workload.
You use good judgement, knowing when something doesn’t look right and flagging it.
You enjoy continuous improvement and take feedback well.
