About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Finance Manager to join our dynamic EMEA Accounting team in London. This role focuses on supporting the launches of Amazon's newest global business initiatives and automating underlying processes. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker who thrives in a fast-paced, complex environment. You will partner with operational accounting, tax, and business finance teams to develop strategic solutions that support our high growth rate through launch methodology design and training. Leveraging existing and novel accounting tools, you will influence design inputs for longer-term platform development.
Key responsibilities include leading accounting project support for new product designs and financial system setups, delivering complex cross-functional projects with clear risk communication and resolution recommendations, and executing large-scale process improvements for new business launches and existing processes. You will develop and transition new processes for month-end activities such as general ledger close, account reconciliations, and financial reporting preparation. Maintaining strong communication channels with global accounting teams and ensuring quality of automated accounting entries, financial reporting processes, and controls are essential.
This role requires managing ambiguity and complexity while supporting multiple simultaneous project launches. You will apply finance and accounting expertise to incorporate necessary financial reporting elements into new business launches and demonstrate a solid understanding of computing system interactions to implement internal control elements supporting new business activities.
Experience
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, statistics, business, accounting, or a related field, or equivalent experience in a quantitative role
- Experience in tax, finance, or a related analytical field
- Experience in multiple finance and accounting roles
- Proven ability to apply key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to analyses
- Experience building financial and operational reports/data sets that inform business decision-making
- Experience creating process improvements with automation and analysis
- Participation in continuous improvement projects to scale and improve controllership with measurable results
- Knowledge of financial controls and procedures
- Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, and data interpretation
- Experience working in fast-paced, quickly changing, or international environments
- Experience with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (e.g., SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and financial systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field, or CPA preferred
- Knowledge of SQL/ETL is a plus
- Experience identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, root cause analysis, and implementing escalation plans
- Experience solving complex business challenges through accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations
- Knowledge of standard software including Excel, Access, Oracle, Essbase, SQL, and VBA skills
- Experience in accounting management in Big Four firms with Fortune 500 clients is advantageous
