About the Role
An excellent opportunity has arisen within the London Borough of Redbridge for a Finance Officer. You will provide an effective, customer-focused support service to users of the finance service, responding to and resolving service requests and queries, ensuring that efficient, accurate and timely end-to-end processes are adhered to. You will support the delivery of the wider aspects of the closure of accounts and the delivery of an efficient and effective cash management and reconciliation service.

Key activities include working closely with the Principal Accountant to keep them informed of process, system or performance issues; advising the Team Leader on areas of the service where improvements could be made and making recommendations to improve processes and efficiency; ensuring priorities are met; responding to and resolving service requests and queries; maintaining proper control accounts; undertaking bank reconciliations; clearing suspense accounts; processing unpaid items; and dealing with ad hoc banking issues in a timely manner.

Experience
Qualified member of the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) or significant experience in the finance service or a large, complex organisation. Broad knowledge of relevant regulations as they relate to the activities of the finance service. Working experience and knowledge of cash management banking processes and reconciliations. Proven ability to identify service improvements and manage change.

About you
Ability to work well in a demanding environment and organise your time efficiently. Able to collate, produce and present information using statistical data to enhance understanding and decision making.

Qualifications
Qualified member of the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) or equivalent experience.
