About the Role
English National Ballet are seeking a Financial Controller with charity accounting experience to lead our financial accounting function. This role focuses on pursuing best practice while overseeing financial compliance, statutory reporting, and ENB’s control environment. As part of the senior Finance team, you will engage with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and manage and develop two direct reports. Your main responsibilities include heading up ENB’s Financial Accounting function, providing leadership and management to a team of part-qualified and non-qualified colleagues, and managing a high-performing, customer-focused finance team that adapts confidently to ENB’s growing demands while maintaining quality and effectiveness. You will ensure a strong internal control environment that delivers timely and accurate information for quality reporting, supporting decision-making and assisting in reporting progress against budget and forecast. Additionally, you will be the first point of contact for systems optimisation, tax compliance, and statutory reporting. You will also support the Head of Finance in financial strategy and business planning, working closely with the Head of Management Accounts.

Experience
Proven significant experience as a senior finance professional in the arts or charity sector. Demonstrated expertise in managing finance systems and processes, financial reporting, audit management, and charity tax and VAT. Good working knowledge of payroll, including associated taxes and complex pay elements.

Ability to develop or refresh processes and ensure good documentation to facilitate consistent implementation of agreed procedures. Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead, develop, and retain direct reports, enabling them to take ownership and responsibility for their deliverables and development. Support for professional qualifications where appropriate.

Qualifications
Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
