About the Role
We are seeking a Python Software Engineer to join our Client Success Team (CST) at Validus Risk Management. The CST aims to create a proactive, client-aligned feedback loop that accelerates the delivery of high-impact features for the Validus Horizon platform. This team drives product evolution, revenue enablement, and client engagement beyond traditional support functions.

As a Senior Developer within CST, you will own small-to-medium scope enhancements from concept through production, delivering measurable business impact. You will collaborate cross-functionally with business leads, technical teams, and clients to translate complex financial and operational requirements into robust, scalable full stack solutions. You will also provide leadership within CST initiatives, ensuring accountability, technical quality, and successful delivery.

Key responsibilities include leading end-to-end delivery of features for Validus Horizon, managing multiple concurrent initiatives with clear stakeholder communication, designing and implementing backend services, APIs, data pipelines, and frontend components aligned with platform architecture. You will build and maintain ETL processes to improve data availability and client workflows, collaborate with stakeholders to refine requirements and define acceptance criteria, contribute to technical scoping and prioritisation, improve system performance and scalability, mentor team members on code quality and best practices, and support client and stakeholder meetings by presenting technical solutions and roadmaps.

Experience
- 3–5 years of professional software development experience
- Strong experience in Python or a similar backend language used for data processing and financial applications
- Full stack development experience including backend services, APIs, databases, and modern frontend frameworks
- Experience designing and maintaining data pipelines and integrations (APIs, SFTP, structured market/portfolio datasets)
- Proven ability to lead small-to-medium scale projects with high accountability and ownership
- Strong interest in financial markets, with exposure to FX and interest rate products
- Ability to communicate complex technical and financial concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Strong attention to detail, prioritisation skills, and ability to manage multiple parallel initiatives

Qualifications
- Strong academic background in a quantitative discipline such as Mathematics, Physics, Financial Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields
- Preferred: MSc degree in a STEM field
- Preferred: Experience working with financial risk management software or platforms
- Preferred: Experience in market data integration, trade lifecycle systems, or portfolio analytics
- Preferred: Understanding of risk modelling, pricing, or financial analytics concepts
- Preferred: Experience working in client-facing or consultative technology roles
