About the Role
The GP Human Resources Manager will play a pivotal role in managing all HR functions across the practice’s two sites. Key responsibilities include managing employee relations matters such as disciplinary, grievance, absence management, capability, redundancy, and retirement processes. You will conduct informal meetings, lead investigations, and chair or support formal hearings as required, liaising with external HR advisors to ensure consistent and legally compliant advice. You will maintain strong communication and professional relationships across the practice.
In addition, you will maintain and update employment contracts for all staff groups, ensuring compliance with current legislation, and work closely with GP Partners on key contractual decisions. The role involves developing, reviewing, and implementing HR policies and procedures, as well as maintaining the staff handbook.
You will lead recruitment for non-clinical roles and support clinical recruitment, managing pre-employment checks and coordinating inductions. Maintaining accurate HR records in line with CQC, NHS, and GDPR standards is essential, alongside managing absence records and supporting return-to-work processes.
The role also includes developing appraisal frameworks, conducting appraisals for non-clinical staff, and supporting appraisals for other staff groups. You will prepare and maintain a training plan aligned with strategic objectives and CQC requirements, coordinate statutory and mandatory training, and support organisational development needs.
Supporting governance and compliance with CQC requirements, contributing to audit, risk management, and quality improvement processes, and participating in change management initiatives are key aspects of this role. You will oversee staffing levels, business continuity planning, and maintain oversight of staff rotas and annual leave calendars.
This is a dynamic role requiring flexibility to undertake additional duties as directed by the GP Partners, commensurate with the level of skill and responsibility.

About you
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build professional relationships across multiple teams. Highly organised with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities. Confident in leading investigations and formal hearings. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, supporting change management and governance processes.
Qualifications
Relevant HR qualifications or CIPD accreditation preferred. Knowledge of employment law, HR best practices, and compliance requirements including CQC, NHS Employment Check Standards, and UK GDPR is essential.
