Hours
Permanent, term-time only plus 2 additional weeks (pro rata). The additional weeks may be used flexibly during school holidays to provide home-based or community-based habilitation support where appropriate.
Salary
£48,003 per annum (pro rata)
About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed individual to join our vision impairment service as either a Trainee Habilitation Specialist or a Qualified Habilitation Specialist (QHS). You will support children and young people with vision impairment to develop independence in mobility, orientation and everyday living skills. The role involves working in schools, homes and local community environments, delivering high-quality habilitation programmes.
For Trainee Applicants: Trainee appointments include the opportunity to complete the university-accredited Graduate Diploma/Certificate in Habilitation (e.g., UCL). You will be supervised by a Lead Teacher for VI or a manager with appropriate knowledge of habilitation practice.
For Qualified Applicants (QHS): You will manage your own caseload, assess children’s needs, design programmes and deliver mobility and independence training across a range of settings.

Experience
- Experience working with children or young people is essential for trainee level.

Qualifications
- A recognised qualification in Habilitation is required for Qualified Habilitation Specialist (QHS) appointments.
