About the Role
As a Band 5 Occupational Therapist, you will carry a clinical caseload supported by Band 6 Occupational Therapists and multi-disciplinary teams (MDTs). Using an evidence-based approach, you will assess clients’ needs, establish aims and objectives, and plan Occupational Therapy treatment programmes in consultation with MDT members, involving clients in decisions regarding appropriate interventions. You will carry out a range of standardised and non-standardised assessments such as MOHOST, Recovery Star, and AMPS in accordance with the OT Pathway to provide a baseline with clear treatment objectives.
You will provide specific individual assessment and treatment, adapting sessions to motivate and enable full occupational participation. This includes modifying activities and assessments to support persons with cognitive difficulties, language challenges, social skills deficits, and challenging behaviour, working with interpreters when required.
Collaboration with teams to assess accommodation suitability and housing needs is essential, providing OT feedback to MDTs and other agencies as appropriate. You will plan, run, and evaluate treatment sessions using graded activities to achieve treatment aims, maintaining flexibility to modify activities according to the fluctuating clinical presentation of service users.
Attendance at multi-disciplinary clinical meetings is required to support and share professional practice information, working collaboratively to provide coordinated care packages in compliance with the care programme approach. You will also actively contribute to the risk assessment process.
