About the Role
As a Healthcare Assistant (HCA) at the Royal Hospital Chelsea, you will play a vital role in supporting clinical staff and delivering high-quality patient care. Your responsibilities will include undertaking phlebotomy (venepuncture) and collecting patient samples, assisting with wound care and simple dressings (training provided if required), and carrying out NHS Health Checks to support health promotion. You will support the Practice Nurse with long-term condition reviews and delegated clinical tasks, record clinical observations such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, oxygen saturations, height, weight, and BMI, and perform ECGs, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM), urinalysis, and point-of-care testing where trained. Additionally, you may administer vaccinations and injections once appropriately trained and competent. You will prepare and maintain clinical rooms, equipment, and stock, maintain accurate patient records using SystmOne, and support GPs and Practice Nurses with clinical procedures and patient care. Promoting health and wellbeing through patient education and signposting is a key part of your role. You will adhere to infection prevention and control policies, participate in mandatory training, audits, and quality improvement activities, and work collaboratively with the wider practice team to deliver safe, effective, and person-centred care.
