About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Head of Learning and Development to strategically lead and shape the learning and development function across our specialist education group, supporting schools and central teams nationwide. While experience within education, particularly in a senior leadership role such as Headteacher or Deputy Headteacher, would be beneficial, the most important requirement is demonstrable success in leading a similar Learning & Development function.
Key responsibilities include leading and developing the Group’s learning, leadership and organisational development strategy to support organisational priorities and workforce capability; designing and delivering talent management, succession planning and leadership development initiatives to strengthen capability and develop future leaders; overseeing induction, apprenticeship and early career programmes with clear development pathways; monitoring, evaluating and continuously improving learning and development activity to ensure quality, compliance and measurable impact; and partnering with school leaders and senior stakeholders to provide expert advice, drive organisational development and foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Experience
Proven success in leading a Learning & Development function. Experience within education in a senior leadership role such as Headteacher or Deputy Headteacher is beneficial but not essential. Demonstrated ability to conduct training needs analyses and align learning activity to organisational priorities.
About you
Strong analytical and reporting capability with an evidence-based approach. Ability to work autonomously, prioritise competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes at pace. Excellent communication, facilitation and relationship-building skills.
Qualifications
A degree-level qualification or equivalent professional experience in a relevant field. A recognised postgraduate qualification or professional certification in Learning and Development or Organisational Development. Desirable qualifications include Chartered CIPD membership and ICF accreditation or a recognised coaching qualification.
