Full Time - 37 hours per week (minimum 35 hours per week required). Hybrid working with a minimum of 60% working time spent at the designated workplace or other business locations. Regular travel to other offices required, including occasional overnight stays.
Salary
£57,515 per annum plus employer pension contribution of £16,662 towards the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme.
About the Role
The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) is seeking a strategic leader to head its frontline training delivery for Driving Examiners, Enforcement Officers, and Vehicle Assessors. This role involves overseeing the development and delivery of operational learning and commissioning specialist training solutions aligned with organisational priorities. You will work closely with stakeholders to ensure high-quality, customer-focused training services that support DVSA’s vision, capability, and workforce development objectives.
Key responsibilities include collaborating with People Directorate colleagues to understand strategic business priorities and skills requirements, interpreting Department for Transport and organisational priorities to align learning needs, providing leadership and guidance to staff, and fostering strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
The role supports DVSA’s mission to make roads safer, improve customer services, promote greener transport, harness technology and data, and contribute to economic growth and levelling up across Britain.
Experience
- Leading a professional operational training service in a multi-disciplined organisation at a strategic level within an HR senior team.
- Developing coherent, fully integrated capability and learning strategies using management information, customer feedback, and organisational priorities.
- Delivering high-quality learning and development services and products.
- Experience in adult learning and managing change.
- Translating technical training requirements into education, learning, and development products.
- Managing multi-disciplinary and geographically dispersed teams.
About you
You will be a strategic leader with excellent communication and relationship-building skills, able to influence and guide teams effectively. You are adaptable, customer-focused, and committed to delivering high standards in learning and development aligned with organisational goals.
Qualifications
MCIPD or a Level 7/Masters qualification in a relevant subject, or equivalent. Evidence of qualifications will be required during the recruitment process.
