The Trustees of Education Development Trust invite applications for the post of Head Teacher, to commence September 2024. We are looking to appoint an inspirational leader with the vision, drive and expertise to further develop a very successful school.
Rated “Excellent” in a recent ISI inspection, the selected candidate will replace Moyra Thompson, upon her retirement at the end of this academic year, following 14 years of excellent service. The role would ideally suit a current head, or someone with recent proven headship experience- either as a head, or deputy, having successfully overseen whole school leadership/headship initiatives. The individual will possess strong business acumen, high EQ, and resilience. They will be an excellent teacher, who leads by example and motivates others. The successful candidate will possess a good honours degree, preferably with senior leadership qualifications, such as NPQH or equivalent and QTS.
Oakfield is part of Education Development Trust (EDT), a not-for-profit organisation whose mission is transforming lives by improving education around the world. Oakfield benefits from specialist support provided by the Trust’s central team which includes educational research, Finance, Property Services, People & HR and Corporate Safeguarding. The successful candidate will be line managed by our Director of Schools, Deborah Leek Bailey OBE, a former Headteacher, Inspector and government advisor.
Oakfield’s strengths stem from its diversity and the individual attention given to all pupils. It is an inclusive environment, where staff and pupils work as a team to create an atmosphere in which every pupil is valued and actively encouraged to progress both academically and socially. Each pupil’s progress is celebrated and many gain scholarships to highly regarded schools. From EYFS to Year 6, our results are impressive. Parents are an important aspect of our outward facing school community, as are the schools we collaborate with, including within our Independent State School Partnerships, our EDT school in Rochester, St. Andrews and those within our global organisation.
The successful candidate will possess strong business acumen and the personal qualities to inspire, motivate, support and challenge others, leading to high impact. Our new Head will have a strong understanding of the independent sector, be politically astute, competitive for their school and cognisant of the expectations of independent school parents and pupils. They will be solutions focused, intuitive and proud to be the public face of the school.
