Full Time – 37.5 hours per week
24-hour, 365-day shift pattern including days, nights, weekends, and bank holidays.

Salary

Band 3 - £25,760 - £27,476 per year (pro rata for part-time hours)
Plus High Cost Area Supplement (HCAS) – 15% of basic salary, subject to a minimum payment of £4,870 and a maximum payment of £6,137 per annum (pro rata for part-time staff).

About the Role

NELFT is recruiting to its Health Care Assistant Talent Pool for opportunities across Mental Health Inpatient Services, including Adult, Older Adult, Children, and both Male and Female Wards.

Following interviews, successful applicants will join the talent pool and be considered for formal interviews within their preferred speciality as suitable vacancies arise. Successful candidates will become part of a multidisciplinary team committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care, supporting service improvement, and working collaboratively with patients, families, and colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality care and support to patients with a range of physical, cognitive, perceptual, and mental health needs.
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team across inpatient wards, community settings, clinics, or patients' homes where appropriate.
  • Deliver person-centred care in line with individual care and treatment plans.
  • Carry out and monitor treatment programmes under the direction of qualified healthcare professionals.
  • Promote patient recovery, independence, and wellbeing.
  • Build positive relationships with patients, families, carers, and colleagues.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to effective communication within the team.
  • Work flexibly across a 24-hour, 365-day rota, including nights, weekends, and bank holidays.
  • Support a culture of continuous improvement and high-quality patient care.
Requirements

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Passion for supporting people experiencing mental health challenges.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Compassionate, caring, and patient-centred approach.
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality care.
  • Unrestricted right to work in the UK (visa sponsorship is not available for this role).

Desirable

  • Previous experience working within healthcare or social care.
  • Experience supporting individuals with mental health conditions.
  • Knowledge of recovery-focused care and person-centred approaches.
