About the Role
Work is underway to refurbish and prepare our new site in Battersea ready for our new school, Shillington Park, opening in Autumn 2026. This role will commence in October 2026. Are you an enthusiastic and dedicated educator looking to make a real impact on young minds? We are seeking a motivated and inspiring HLTA to join our dynamic team and help shape the future of our children and young people.
You will work with students, parents, teachers, and outside agencies on matters related to student welfare, encouraging positive behaviour and attitudes to learning. You will ensure the school is adequately resourced to provide effective cover supervision and arrangements for lessons. Under the direction of the Assistant Headteacher, you will implement planning and complement the professional work of teachers by taking responsibility for agreed learning activities.
Supporting pupils with personal care where required, always maintaining dignity and safeguarding, as well as supporting pupils with emotional regulation and behaviour that may challenge, will be key aspects of your role.
About Shillington Park
Shillington Park is a new Special Educational Needs school opening in Autumn 2026 in Battersea. The school will support children aged 7 to 16 years with Autism and associated conditions who have not been able to access education in mainstream or specialist settings and would benefit from an integrated therapeutic approach to education. Pupils will have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) but may not yet have a diagnosis, though they display traits of Autism and associated conditions.
Shillington Park is part of Kedleston Group, specialists in providing education for children aged 7-19 with a range of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), including autistic spectrum condition (ASC), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and social emotional and mental health needs (SEMH).

Experience
Experience working with children in an educational or similar setting is desirable but not essential. Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD) or an interest in learning is important.
About You
Effective communication skills with parents and carers.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Good personal organisation.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Awareness of the needs of a range of neurodiverse students (desirable).
Knowledge of the effects of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and trauma on children (desirable).
Qualifications
GCSE or equivalent qualifications, including English and Maths.
