About the Role
We are pleased to be actively searching for a dynamic individual to join our Housing Services Team at Dartford Borough Council. Reporting to the Senior Allocations Officer, you will play a key role in delivering housing need in the borough as part of a wider integrated Housing Solutions Team. You will have a good working knowledge of housing legislation, particularly the role of the Local Authority in managing and delivering a housing register for social housing. You will be passionate about customer service excellence and contribute significantly to our vision of becoming the best Housing Team in Kent.
The post holder will be directly responsible for assessing new applications to join the housing register, applying the Council’s Allocations Policy, and making judgements on an applicant’s banding. You will consider medical and welfare cases to assess if criteria are met in relation to the policy and allocate social housing according to relevant policies. You will be a driven, well-organised individual who can work effectively both independently and as part of a team, using excellent interpersonal skills to build relationships with partner agencies.
Experience
Working within the housing sector with a good understanding of housing legislation and Local Authority housing registers.

- Good keyboard skills and ability to learn and utilise new software
- Strong customer care skills with the ability to discuss sensitive issues calmly

Qualifications
Educated to at least GCSE level or equivalent experience.
