About the Role
We are seeking experienced Housing & Litigation Lawyers to join Lambeth Council's expanding legal team. This varied role involves managing a challenging caseload of contested housing litigation and providing related legal advice to ensure the Council receives cost-effective, high-quality representation. You will handle claims under the Landlord and Tenant Act 1985, Environmental Health Act 1990, Defective Premises Act 1972, and contractual claims from tenants and leaseholders, including breach applications. The role also covers contested possession proceedings, anti-social behaviour injunctions, homelessness cases, and judicial reviews.
The successful candidate will be highly organised, proactive, flexible, and able to work under pressure while managing competing deadlines. You will maintain quality assurance and performance standards within the team and provide expert legal advice and representation in court proceedings, including instructing counsel.

Experience
Substantial experience in housing and local government law is essential. Proven track record in contested housing litigation, representation in court proceedings, instructing counsel, and a good working knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules. Experience in drafting legal documents, correspondence, and providing specialist legal advice is required. Experience in effectively managing a team is desirable.

Qualifications
Qualified solicitor or equivalent legal qualification with up-to-date knowledge of housing and local government law.
