About the Role
As a Housing Officer at Croydon Council, you will be the face of the Council in your local area, working directly with tenants to ensure they have homes they are happy in, feel safe, and can access the services they need. You will act as the main point of contact for residents, providing advice, support, and enforcement of tenancy agreements. Your role is pivotal in improving resident satisfaction, building trust, and ensuring positive outcomes for the community.
Key responsibilities include:
- Resident Engagement: Visiting all new tenants to explain tenancy conditions and identify vulnerabilities or additional needs. Maintaining regular communication through estate inspections, customer surgeries, and home visits.
- Tenancy Management: Handling tenancy matters such as succession, assignment, discretionary re-housing, and management transfers. Taking action on anti-social behaviour, illegal occupation, and breaches of tenancy agreements.
- Estate Management: Conducting regular estate inspections, following up on resident issues, recommending improvements, and coordinating with internal teams.
- Supporting Vulnerable Tenants: Working closely with vulnerable residents and making referrals to support services as needed.
- Legal and Enforcement Actions: Preparing and serving legal notices, preparing court cases, drafting witness statements, and representing the council in legal proceedings.

Experience
Proven experience managing complex tenancy issues within a social housing context.
