About the Role
At Spelthorne Borough Council, we successfully prevent homelessness for the majority of our customers and are nationally recognised for our proactive approach and strong teamwork with partners. We are looking for enthusiastic, practically minded individuals who can negotiate effectively to resolve customers’ homelessness. You will be able to work on your own initiative and manage cases from start to finish. This role suits someone with excellent customer care and IT skills who is either new to Housing or an experienced professional seeking to work for an innovative organisation.
This is a hybrid role supporting both office and home working in line with the Council’s policy. The post holder will be required to attend the office according to a rota and service requirements.
The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for this customer-facing post. The Council has a statutory duty to ensure post holders have a command of spoken English sufficient for effective job performance.
This post is subject to a Basic Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check. An essential car user allowance is attached, so a valid driving licence and access to a vehicle insured for business use are required.
Successful candidates will be required to use the Microsoft Authenticator app on their own mobile device to securely access the Council’s network.

Experience
Experience in housing or customer service is desirable but not essential. We welcome applications from those new to housing as well as experienced professionals.
