About the Role
Are you up for a challenge? Dartford Borough Council is seeking an enthusiastic, IT literate, and motivated individual to join the Housing Scheme & Finance team as a Housing Scheme Officer. This exciting role involves working within a specialist intensive housing management team responsible for delivering a comprehensive, customer-centred enhanced housing management support service. You will manage the day-to-day operations of Dartford Borough Council’s sheltered properties for older people. This is a remote worker role based in and around Dartford’s sheltered housing schemes, requiring efficient time management to successfully complete a variety of tasks throughout the day.
Key responsibilities include signposting tenants to support services, helping tenants maintain their independence, managing low level anti-social behaviour from various sources, undertaking property management inspections, and assisting with rent arrears recovery. You will be expected to plan and deliver your own agreed work programme while collaborating and supporting your team colleagues. Although previous experience in a similar role and an understanding of safeguarding issues are desirable, full training will be provided to the successful applicant.
Please note this role is site-based and does not offer home or hybrid working. A full driving licence and access to your own car are required.
Experience
Previous experience in a similar housing management or support role is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided. Experience in managing safeguarding issues is advantageous.

- Knowledge of health & safety management within a communal living environment
- Understanding of Data Protection (GDPR) in a confidential working setting
- Confidence, enthusiasm, empathy, and a flexible approach to work
- IT literate, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and Housing Management systems
- Willingness and ability to participate in the mandatory out of hours Emergency Standby Call Out Duty Rota with a 20 minute response time
- Full driving licence and access to own car
Qualifications
No specific qualifications are required for this role, but relevant housing or social care qualifications would be an advantage.
