About the Role
AWS is seeking a HPC Specialist Architect for the Energy & Utilities Business Unit to act as a subject matter expert helping customers design and implement solutions leveraging AWS HPC services. You will collaborate closely with customers across various geographies to enable large-scale HPC use cases and drive AWS HPC adoption. Your role includes working with Solutions Architects, providing guidance on customer engagements, and developing white papers, blogs, reference implementations, and presentations to empower customers and partners to maximize HPC service utilization on AWS. You will also create enablement materials for the broader AWS architect community to facilitate integration of AWS HPC solutions into customer architectures.
Key responsibilities include:
- Advising customers and deploying state-of-the-art HPC solutions, including building prototypes and proofs of concept.
- Evangelizing AWS HPC services and sharing best practices through blogs, white papers, reference architectures, and public speaking events such as AWS Summit and AWS re:Invent.
- Acting as a technical liaison between customers and AWS product teams to provide feedback for product improvements.
- Traveling up to 25%, as required.

Experience
- Development experience with HPC frameworks in domains such as oil and gas, automotive/aerospace, financial services, or pharmaceuticals.
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages: C++, Python, CUDA, or Bash.
- Experience architecting HPC platforms with scheduling middleware (e.g., Slurm, Torque, Symphony, GridServer) and deploying, tuning, and managing HPC technologies in multi-user environments.
- High-level understanding of infrastructure platforms and resources for HPC services.
- Ability to develop AWS technical proficiency within the first 6 months.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences, including executive stakeholders.
- Ability to understand HPC user requirements and translate them into solutions.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree or equivalent in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or related field.
- Experience optimizing computationally intensive applications, especially in oil and gas subsurface applications, reservoir simulation, or seismic data processing.
- Expertise in parallel programming models including MPI (OpenMPI, MPICH), OpenMP, hybrid parallelization, and GPU programming with CUDA, OpenACC, or similar.
- Significant experience in infrastructure architecture and networking.
- Experience with infrastructure as code technologies such as CloudFormation or CDK.
- Demonstrated AWS technical proficiency with architecting and implementing HPC solutions on AWS.
