About the Role
You will lead and shape information governance strategy across Richmond and Wandsworth Councils, ensuring robust compliance, strong assurance, and continuous improvement in how information is managed and protected. You will safeguard public trust and act as Deputy Data Protection Officer, supporting statutory responsibilities and influencing decision-making at the highest levels.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading development and implementation of information governance policies and frameworks
- Driving continuous improvement in compliance and risk management
- Overseeing audits, Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), breach management, and information rights services
- Acting as senior escalation point for complex cases
- Supporting the Data Protection Officer in statutory responsibilities
- Building relationships with senior officers, Members, and regulators
- Leading and developing the Information Governance team
- Delivering training and corporate reporting
This is a 2-year fixed term, part-time role with job share and flexible hybrid working opportunities available.
Experience
Significant senior-level experience in information governance and data protection.
Proven ability to develop and assure governance frameworks.
Experience managing high-risk or sensitive data protection issues.
Strong knowledge of DPIAs, audits, and relevant legislation.
Confidence advising senior stakeholders and regulators.
Track record of leading high-performing teams.
