Full Time with requirement to work out of hours on an on-call rota, including weekdays, weekends and occasional overnight stays. Regular travel within the UK for meetings and infrastructure work is required.

Salary
£46,077 per annum

The team is responsible for delivering and maintaining a specialist sensitive IT infrastructure and a national network of services to HMRC investigators across 24 geographically spread sites. This infrastructure supports the secure use of data to enable elite investigation services.

CODE Technology delivers a broad portfolio of change initiatives to sustain and transform legacy sensitive technologies and to deliver innovative solutions designed around customer needs. CODE combines digital and technology change, project delivery, business process, product management and cultural change to maximise impact and ensure sustainability.

This role sits within the CODE Technology Infrastructure Team (CTI), part of FIS CODE Capability, Development, Infrastructure & Innovation (CDII), playing an integral role in His Majesty's Government's fight against serious and organised crime, supporting investigations totalling hundreds of millions of pounds each year.

As an IT Infrastructure Operations Engineer, you will ensure robust, reliable, high-performance systems and services meet business needs. Responsibilities include building, administration, maintenance, and monitoring of diverse systems such as servers, storage, endpoint management, networks, telephony, and business applications.

You will work closely with Infrastructure managers and fellow engineers to provide third-line support and project delivery across a wide spectrum of IT systems, and engage frequently with other teams and departments to achieve shared objectives.

This role offers the opportunity to influence the future technical direction within a dynamic and innovative team environment, vital to the successful delivery of FIS CODE Infrastructure and Technology.

Requirements

Experience
- Supporting planning, installation, maintenance, and improvement of enterprise-class hardware services within a data centre, including environmental monitoring.
- Installing, configuring, managing, and supporting physical desktops in a Windows environment.
- Conducting lifecycle management of hardware assets including inventory, compliance, disposal, and protection.
- Awareness of information security and security controls to mitigate threats, with experience or awareness of network switching concepts and security policy management platforms such as Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE).
- Ability to break down problems to identify root causes and troubleshoot across different technologies.
- Experience coaching junior colleagues.
- Strong communication skills with ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences both verbally and in writing.

About you
An enthusiastic, resilient individual able to deliver impact in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities. You will have an infrastructure background with technical understanding of virtual machines, datacentres, and environments. You are a strong communicator, comfortable in client/customer facing roles, and able to provide verbal updates and written documentation.

You will be expected to work flexibly including on-call duties, additional hours, weekends, and bank holidays. A full UK driving licence is desirable.

Qualifications
- Qualifications in Information Technology or a related field and/or practical experience supporting an IT environment are desirable.
- ITIL Foundation Qualification or demonstrable understanding of ITIL Lifecycle Standards is preferred.
- Relevant certifications may include MCSE, CCNA, SAA-C03, CompTIA, etc.
- Experience or exposure to project management tools (e.g. Jira, MS Project) and version control systems is advantageous.
- Knowledge or experience of Cisco, ACI or NXOS, Fortigate firewalls and switches is desirable.

Note: This role requires UK Nationality and successful candidates must obtain Security Check (SC) clearance and subsequently Developed Vetting (DV) clearance.
