About the Role
We are seeking a skilled interpretation specialist to join the V&A Interpretation team as Interpretation Producer for V&A East, based in Hackney Wick and Stratford. This role involves developing and delivering audience-centred interpretation schemes that are meaningful, relevant, and inspiring for V&A East’s young-adult visitors aged 16–24. The postholder will be responsible for delivering the final production of the interpretation scheme for the V&A East Museum, scheduled to open in spring 2026, as well as ongoing snagging for Storehouse, which opened in May 2025. Once both sites are operational, the role will craft interpretation for regular updates and new displays in the permanent galleries and annual temporary exhibitions at both locations, alongside managing the maintenance and upkeep of existing schemes.
This position is part of the central Interpretation team for the V&A and will evolve with the needs of the V&A as it becomes a multi-site institution, offering opportunities for cross-site working and projects at other London sites.
This is an exciting and varied role focused on creating interpretive work tailored to the interests and needs of young adults at V&A East. The successful candidate will think both creatively and critically, demonstrate a proactive nature with strong organisational skills, and understand how to craft accessible interpretation that engages and informs visitors while supporting the V&A’s vision to champion art, design, and creativity in all its forms, for everyone.
We particularly welcome applications from candidates living in the surrounding boroughs of Hackney, Newham, Tower Hamlets, and Waltham Forest to help build V&A East Museum and Storehouse for and by the local communities.
