About the Role
Are you looking for a new opportunity to lead a Financial Crime Function? As the J.P. Morgan Personal Investing Financial Crime Operations lead, you will use your operational and financial crime expertise to protect customers and the bank. Reporting to the Head of J.P. Morgan Personal Investing Financial Crime Operations, you will lead the AML & Fraud Operations team based in London and Edinburgh, shaping the team culture and maintaining an effective control environment.
You will be responsible for investigating potential suspicious customer activity and reporting to the National Crime Agency. Managing the quality of outputs within the team, you will ensure the firm meets its regulatory requirements. Your leadership will be crucial in building the team, identifying and nurturing talented members who bring new skills and expertise.
In this role, you will provide opinions on various Financial Crime Risks, shaping the business risk appetite for dealing with financial crime. You must be a highly motivated individual with strong interpersonal and technical skills, able to work effectively amidst ambiguity and adjust workloads to meet evolving priorities. You will operate in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with diverse stakeholders and decision makers to ensure robust fraud risk management and compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the overall Financial Crime Operations function for J.P. Morgan Personal Investing, including team oversight (performance management, career planning, development, training), operational controls, and adherence to policies and procedures.
- Act as a subject matter expert on SAR filing processes and financial crime legislation/regulations such as POCA 2002, UK Bribery Act 2010, and counter-terrorist financing.
- Ensure adequate staffing with appropriate skill sets to meet function objectives and manage team capacity.
- Oversee AML & Fraud Operations processes, ensuring all UAR/Referrals are reviewed, investigations conducted, and SARs filed accurately and timely.
- Drive continuous improvements in data quality, control reporting, and metrics to monitor performance and increase consistency.
- Partner with Product Development, Technology, Process Engineering, and Compliance stakeholders to improve services, systems, business processes, and procedures to scale operations and enhance productivity.
- Provide strategic direction and leadership in executing key projects, programs, and initiatives.
- Collaborate with Compliance, Controls, and AML Oversight teams on new escalation and SAR filing policies, managing impacts on the control environment.
- Assess and manage changes to the control environment delivered through process, policy, and technology changes.
- Ensure team procedures and processes are up to date, accurate, and reflect all policy and regulatory changes.
Experience
- Proven experience within financial crime in a financial institution.
