About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join the dynamic Investment Banking EMEA M&A Capital Markets (MAC) team at J.P. Morgan. The EMEA MAC team is a critical component of the firm’s globally integrated investment banking model and M&A practice, advising clients on all market-related aspects of M&A transactions including implied deal probability, hedge fund analysis, trading patterns, and relevant market information. This unique franchise is expanding across EMEA, offering the successful candidate a chance to contribute to building a leading practice under J.P. Morgan’s world-class banner.

As an Associate, you will play a central role in advising clients on market dynamics behind M&A transactions across industries and countries in EMEA. You will work alongside expert professionals at a leading global investment bank, gaining exposure to formal training, hands-on learning, continuous mentoring, and numerous development opportunities. The role offers the chance to develop strong skills in key areas of investment banking and progress towards becoming a senior officer capable of generating and executing M&A Capital Markets mandates.

Key responsibilities include delivering real-time analysis on market-implied deal completion probabilities, monitoring risk arbitrage spreads for live EMEA M&A mandates, executing detailed hedge fund and institutional investor analysis to identify event-driven trading patterns, synthesizing complex market data into board-level presentations and trading updates, and leveraging the bank’s resources across industry, country, and product teams to support deal teams and client management.

Requirements

Experience
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in M&A, Equity Capital Markets, Shareholder Advisory, and/or Merger Arb funds
- Solid understanding of equity markets, trading dynamics, key institutional shareholders, and hedge funds in EMEA
- Deep knowledge of corporate finance, EMEA takeover codes, and accounting
- Prior exposure to risk arbitrage strategies
- Experience in training analysts with varied professional backgrounds
- Expertise in leverageable data platforms including Bloomberg and FactSet

About you
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment managing multiple projects and tight deadlines
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and defend their validity
- Strong project management skills and ability to collaborate across industry and country teams
- Fluency in one or more European languages is highly preferred

- Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex market data and present findings effectively
- Commitment to meeting applicable regulatory requirements regarding fitness, propriety, knowledge, and competence as required for regulated activities
