About the Role
Safran is seeking a Laboratory Process Technician to support quality and efficiency in electroplating and chemical processes within our Brockhampton site. You will play a vital role in ensuring compliance with process specifications, health, safety, and environmental legislation, while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities include performing detailed chemical analyses, managing solution processes, compiling vat analysis data with a focus on salvage activity and electroplating (preferably Zinc Nickel), and maintaining strict adherence to Health, Safety, and Environmental legislation to safeguard staff and the community.

You will manage and optimize processing chemicals on site in accordance with COMAH regulations, prepare and test laboratory samples (including salt spray tests, Lawrence Gauge analysis, and paint strip controls), support internal and external audits, provide technical support for projects, and participate in preventative maintenance of laboratory and plating plant equipment.

Continuous improvement is a core part of this role, involving optimization of techniques and processes to meet production demands, supporting new product and process capabilities including REACh compliance, reviewing process control specifications, and engaging in activities to reduce processing times and improve shop-floor efficiency.

Requirements

Experience
Degree in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline, or equivalent relevant laboratory experience preferably in an engineering/plating context within aerospace or automotive industries.
Comprehensive knowledge of electroplating processes and analytic techniques such as titrations, atomic absorption spectrometry, and X-ray fluorescence.
Strong experience with COSHH and safe handling of chemicals.
Proven track record in process control, laboratory testing, and data analysis.
Ability to read and interpret specifications, regulatory documents, and operational methods.
Proficiency with IT systems and strong mathematical ability.
Familiarity with Lean Sigma disciplines and 5S principles is desirable.
Experience in gap analysis and closing activities related to new product and process compliance is a plus.
Participation in or support of environmental, lean, or process improvement projects is advantageous.
