About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Lead Conservator specializing in Books, Paper and Photographs to join the Victoria and Albert Museum. This senior role involves leading conservation projects, managing a team of conservators, and ensuring the preservation and care of the museum’s extensive collections. You will work closely with curators, researchers, and other museum professionals to develop and implement conservation strategies that maintain the integrity and accessibility of the collections for future generations. The role requires a combination of expert conservation skills, leadership, and project management within a dynamic museum environment.

Experience
Proven experience in the conservation of books, paper, and photographic materials, ideally within a museum or heritage setting. Demonstrated leadership and team management skills. Experience in developing and implementing conservation policies and procedures.

Detail-oriented and highly organized with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Passionate about cultural heritage preservation and able to work collaboratively across disciplines. Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to conservation challenges.

Qualifications
A relevant degree or postgraduate qualification in conservation or a related discipline. Professional accreditation or membership of a recognized conservation body is desirable.
