Lead Data Governance Manager
Location
The locations for this role are Newport, Titchfield (Fareham), London and Manchester. We operate a flexible hybrid working model across the UK, with colleagues linked to one of our contractual locations and working between office and remote throughout the week. As part of the hybrid working arrangement there is a 40% minimum office attendance requirement.

Salary
£56,020 minimum (National) / £59,311 minimum (London)
About the Role
We are seeking a Lead Data Governance Manager to join our Data Acquisition Division. In this role, you will lead and support the development of agreements with external parties to enable the integration of data into the Office for National Statistics (ONS). You will work to deliver mature data governance processes that ensure sustainable data management aligned with ONS needs. You will apply relevant data and ethical frameworks and standards, providing expert advice on technical, ethical, data protection, security, and legal aspects such as GDPR. Your work will promote the benefits of using administrative data while ensuring compliance and best practice across the organisation.
Experience
- Strong stakeholder relationship building and ability to influence
- Ability to work effectively with subject matter experts across the organisation
- Knowledge and experience in improving data maturity and setting best practice in data governance
About you
You are a confident leader with excellent communication skills and a strong understanding of data governance principles. You are able to navigate complex organisational structures and work collaboratively to embed good data practices. You have a proactive approach to problem solving and a commitment to ethical data use.
Qualifications
Relevant qualifications or demonstrable experience in data governance, data management, information security, or related fields are desirable.
