Location
London Puddle Dock, Blackfriars with regular travel across the Southern Region including Wessex, Sussex, and Kent. This is a hybrid role requiring frequent on-site presence and occasional overnight stays.

Hours
Full Time - standard business hours with flexibility to support workshops, interventions, and leadership coaching across multiple locations.

Salary
£71,163 to £86,801 plus £3,270 London location allowance and £6,000 annual car allowance

About the Role
Join Network Rail Southern Region, one of the busiest and most dynamic parts of the UK railway network, as a Lead Systems Thinking Manager. This pivotal role offers the opportunity to shape the future of Britain's railway during a period of significant industry reform and transformation. You will lead the development and delivery of Systems Thinking programmes to tackle complex organisational challenges, improve performance, and support sustainable change across the region.

Working closely with Executive Directors, Functional Directors, and senior stakeholders, you will facilitate workshops, coach leaders, and lead interventions that embed Systems Thinking principles into everyday practice. You will also manage and develop a team of Systems Thinking Specialists, ensuring high-quality delivery across multiple programmes.

This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong relationship-building skills, the ability to analyse complex challenges, and a passion for driving lasting organisational improvement. You will be part of a new capability within Network Rail, influencing how one of the UK's largest and most complex organisations adapts to a changing railway landscape.

Requirements

Experience
- Proven experience applying Systems Thinking methodologies to complex organisational challenges
- Experience leading interventions, workshops, and business change activities
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, including working with senior leaders
- Experience coaching others in Systems Thinking approaches and methodologies
- Ability to analyse complex challenges and translate insight into practical action
- Experience managing and developing specialist teams
- Track record of delivering sustainable business improvement and organisational change
- Strong facilitation, consulting, and communication skills

About you
You may currently work in Systems Thinking, Business Transformation, Business Improvement, Organisational Development, Change Management, Operational Excellence, or Consulting. Experience within rail is not essential; candidates from utilities, infrastructure, transport, aviation, defence, emergency services, manufacturing, or other large, complex, or highly regulated organisations are encouraged to apply.

You enjoy working directly with people, building trusted relationships face-to-face, and immersing yourself in operational environments to understand and improve them.

Qualifications
