About the Role
Southwark College, part of NCG, is seeking a talented Supported Learning Lecturer to join the team from September 2026. The role involves teaching learners aged 16–25 with mild to moderate learning needs in small classes of 8 to 10 students. You will deliver high-quality teaching in one or more of the following areas: Literacy, Numeracy, IT, Life Skills, and/or PSHE (Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education). The role includes contributing to curriculum development, creating engaging lesson plans, assessing student progress, and providing constructive feedback.
You will support learners’ academic and personal development through tutorials and pastoral care, maintain accurate records, and work collaboratively with colleagues and external partners to enhance the learner experience. Promoting safeguarding, equality, and health and safety policies is essential. The role requires patience, empathy, and the ability to maintain a calm and nurturing learning environment.

Experience
Experience teaching learners aged 16-25 in a Supported Learning context is required. You should have experience teaching at least one of the following subjects: Literacy, Numeracy, IT, Life Skills, or PSHE. Experience with mild to moderate learning difficulties is essential.

Qualifications
- A relevant subject qualification (e.g. degree or equivalent)
- A recognised teaching qualification
- Level 2 English and Maths (e.g. GCSE grade C/4 or equivalent)
- Knowledge of subject-specific pedagogy and current teaching practices in further or higher education
- Commitment to ongoing professional development
