About the Role
At Engine by Starling, we are on a mission to partner with leading banks worldwide to build rapid growth businesses on our technology platform. Engine is Starling's software-as-a-service (SaaS) business, powering Starling’s innovative banking technology, now offered globally to banks and financial institutions. This role sits within the Engine Legal Team, reporting to the Senior Legal Counsel, Engine. You will work closely with senior stakeholders and focus primarily on commercial contracts and related legal matters essential for a high-growth SaaS company within a successful bank.
Your responsibilities will include drafting, negotiating, and advising on client-facing commercial contracts such as NDAs, framework agreements, SaaS agreements, and software licences. You will also handle a full range of third-party supplier and intragroup commercial agreements including marketing, IT, technology, and outsourcing contracts to support Engine’s development. Advising on data protection matters related to supplier arrangements, client agreements, and intragroup data sharing will be a key part of your role. You will provide legal support on issues arising in the operation of a banking SaaS company and assist Senior Legal Counsel and General Counsel with international expansion initiatives. Managing multiple projects to tight deadlines and maintaining Engine’s legal precedent documents will also be expected. Where necessary, you will instruct and collaborate with external counsel on specialist and international matters.
