About the Role

This role involves responding to requests from appointed panel solicitors who handle day-to-day management of active claims. Responsibilities include investigating claims for loss or damage to property, liaising with claimants' solicitors, ensuring appropriate authorisation for release of patient information, reviewing medical records, preparing chronologies or synopses, and meeting disclosure deadlines. The officer will participate in case conferences and collaborate with other departments such as Health and Safety and Estates to gather relevant information. Complex claims will be escalated to the Head of Legal / General Counsel (Healthcare) as per the Claims Delegation Protocol.

This includes acting as the primary liaison with Coroners Offices, managing urgent information requests, maintaining case management systems and electronic files, retrieving medical records, identifying and liaising with witnesses, and ensuring compliance with Coroners Office deadlines. The officer will analyze complex clinical and factual scenarios, escalate contentious issues, coordinate Pre-Inquest Meetings and court hearings, attend Inquest hearings to support witnesses, and ensure conclusions and learning points are promptly communicated and archived appropriately.
