About the Role
Join Carousel Nursery as an Apprentice Nursery Assistant while working towards a Level 2 Early Years Practitioner qualification with Parenta Training. This is an excellent opportunity to begin a career in childcare while gaining valuable hands-on experience in a friendly and supportive nursery environment.
You will work with children aged from birth to five years, supporting their care, learning, development and wellbeing while developing the practical and professional skills needed for a career in early years education.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with children aged 0–5, supporting activities, learning and development.
- Support the personal and emotional needs of individual children, including feeding, nappy changing and general care.
- Provide care and support under supervision and encourage children to participate in learning and play activities.
- Maintain a safe, clean and well-presented nursery environment.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain high standards of care and education.
- Create a warm, friendly and stimulating environment where children can develop emotionally, socially and educationally.
- Attend team meetings and contribute relevant ideas.
- Follow the nursery’s confidentiality policies and procedures.
- Contribute to a positive, effective and supportive team environment.
Training & Development
You will work towards an Early Years Practitioner Level 2 apprenticeship with Parenta Training Limited. At least 20% of your working hours will be dedicated to training or studying.
Training will cover areas including:
- Safeguarding and child protection.
- Health, safety, hygiene and wellbeing.
- Risk assessment and hazard management.
- Supporting children's personal safety and hygiene.
- Healthy eating, nutrition and physical activity.
- Respectful personal care, including feeding, nappy changing, toilet training and rest.
- Communication with children, including those with additional needs or English as an additional language.
- Supporting children's language, literacy, mathematical and creative development.
- Planning and reviewing play and learning activities.
- Observing and recording children's development.
- Supporting individual care and learning plans.
- Working effectively with colleagues, professionals and other agencies.
- Working with parents and carers to support children's development.
- Developing professionally through feedback, mentoring and supervision.

About Carousel Nursery
Carousel Day Nursery, Motspur Park, was founded in 1997 and is located on the first floor of the Old Blues Rugby Club. The nursery operates Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 6:00pm, with earlier opening available by request, and cares for children aged two to five.
The nursery has a small, qualified team with staff holding Levels 2, 3 and 4 qualifications. Regular training supports up-to-date knowledge and high-quality practice. Carousel focuses on giving children the best possible start to their education through the EYFS, Cultural Capitals and an emphasis on individual children's experiences, interests and development.
Career Progression
Successful completion of the apprenticeship can lead to further opportunities within childcare. You will initially work towards an NVQ Level 2 in Childcare, with the opportunity to progress to Level 3 afterwards.
