About the Role
Join Playdays Nurseries as an Apprentice Nursery Assistant while working towards a Level 2 Early Years Practitioner qualification with Parenta Training. This is an excellent opportunity to begin a career in childcare while gaining valuable hands-on experience in a friendly, stimulating and child-focused nursery environment.
You will work with children aged from birth to five years, supporting their care, learning, development and wellbeing while developing the practical skills and knowledge needed for a career in early years education.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with children aged 0–5, supporting their learning, development and daily activities.
- Help organise and deliver engaging, age-appropriate activities.
- Support the personal and emotional needs of individual children, including feeding, nappy changing and general care.
- Provide care and support under supervision, ensuring children participate in daily learning and play activities.
- Build positive and trusting relationships with children.
- Help create a warm, friendly and stimulating environment where children can develop socially, emotionally and educationally.
- Maintain a safe, clean and well-presented nursery environment.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain high standards of childcare and education.
- Attend team meetings and contribute relevant ideas and suggestions.
- Follow the nursery's confidentiality policies and procedures.
- Contribute to an effective and supportive team environment.
Training & Development
You will work towards an Early Years Practitioner Level 2 apprenticeship with Parenta Training Limited. At least 20% of your working hours will be dedicated to training or studying.
Training will cover areas including:
- Safeguarding and child protection.
- Recognising and reporting risks, hazards and concerns.
- Health, safety, hygiene and infection control.
- Safe use of equipment, furniture and materials.
- Promoting children's personal safety and hygiene.
- Supporting children's health, wellbeing, nutrition and physical activity.
- Providing respectful personal care, including feeding, nappy changing and toilet training.
- Communicating effectively with children, including children with additional needs and those with English as an additional language.
- Supporting children's language, communication, literacy and mathematical development.
- Planning and supporting play, creativity and learning activities.
- Observing, assessing and recording children's development.
- Supporting children through transitions and significant events.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues, parents, carers and other professionals.
- Supporting individual children's care and development plans.
- Understanding the importance of parents and carers in children's learning and development.
- Developing professional skills through feedback, mentoring and supervision.
