About the Role
A senior publishing role for an experienced and skilled editor and production journalist on The Telegraph Magazine, as part of the newspaper team. You will be capable of editing a magazine section and publishing stories with flair. You will be comfortable conceptualising layouts and leading a team, and have a natural instinct for effective use of visuals.
Key responsibilities include:
- Editing The Telegraph Magazine in liaison with the Features and Lifestyle Print Editor and Print Edition Editor
- Leading designers and Page Editors to deliver the Magazine to the highest quality and hitting off-stone times
- Deciding on the content for print from digitally published or scheduled content with support from the Features and Lifestyle Print Editor
- Being accountable for the repurposing of digital copy, headlines and page furniture to an excellent quality, and personally fitting articles when necessary
- Working closely with the Magazine designers and print visual editors to produce an eye-catching product and, when necessary, coming up with alternative design solutions
- Collaborating with subbing, design and picture teams to ensure copy flow and the production of print pages run smoothly and to deadline
- Maintaining a keen awareness of the Telegraph audience in both print and digital and how to effectively engage with each
- Proofreading pages as and when required
- Exercising a razor sharp eye for legally sensitive content to quickly refer for guidance

Experience
Proven editing experience of print long-form journalism
Experience of newspaper section editing and leading a team
Significant time spent in regional, trade or national level media organisations
Copy-editing, proofing, subbing and production to a high standard
Quick, accurate writing of headlines
Publishing skills, including knowledge of visual storytelling, infographics and a brilliant eye for photography as well as creative flair for info boxes, polls etc
Ability to respond well under pressure and adhere to strict deadlines
About you
Skilled editor and production journalist with flair for storytelling and visuals
Strong leadership skills and ability to manage a team effectively
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Keen awareness of audience engagement across print and digital platforms
Attention to detail with a sharp eye for legally sensitive content
Qualifications
Relevant qualifications or equivalent professional experience in journalism, publishing or related fields preferred but not mandatory
