About the Role
The Manager for Young Lives & Families and Independent Living Advice & Support provides operational leadership and coordination across both departments. The postholder supervises project leads, ensures effective, person-centred service delivery, and maintains quality, compliance and accountability in line with Action on Disability’s values and the Social Model of Disability. Working closely with the Chief Operating Officer, the Manager supports planning, performance monitoring, budgeting and partnership development to ensure services for Disabled children, young people, adults and families are delivered to a high standard and meet contractual outcomes.

Main responsibilities include providing clear, supportive day-to-day leadership across both departments, supervising and supporting project leads for Youth and Supported Internships (H&F and K&C), coordinating inclusive and accessible delivery informed by the Social Model of Disability, overseeing compliance with statutory, contractual and safeguarding requirements, managing departmental budgets, preparing funding applications and tender bids, leading team meetings, supervision and appraisals, building effective partnerships with local authorities, schools, colleges, employers and community organisations, supporting data collection and outcome reporting, promoting co-production and participation by Disabled people, contributing to planning and service improvement initiatives, representing AoD positively at external meetings and working collaboratively across departments.

General responsibilities include working in line with AoD’s aims, values and the Social Model of Disability, following policies on Equality, Safeguarding, Health & Safety, Confidentiality and Data Protection, actively contributing to team meetings and training, promoting AoD’s services and values, being flexible to support smooth running of the service, and upholding AoD’s commitment to being a Disabled People’s Organisation led by and for Disabled people.

Requirements

Experience
We welcome applications from Disabled people and value a wide range of experience, including lived experience of disability. Experience in operational leadership, project management, partnership working, and service delivery within a disability or social care context would be advantageous.

Qualifications
No specific qualifications are stated as essential; however, relevant qualifications in management, social care, disability studies or related fields would be beneficial.

Additional Requirements
An enhanced DBS check will be required. Travel across Greater London is expected with expenses reimbursed according to policy.
