About the Role
Amazon Web Services is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to perform design engineering activities for new build projects within our rapidly expanding data centre footprint across the EMEA region. You will join a global engineering team responsible for designing resilient, cost-effective mechanical services systems that achieve world-class uptime for our customers. This role involves driving change, defining and designing critical mechanical systems, and working closely with internal and external teams to deliver innovative solutions.
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will lead design consultants, manage design consultancy firms, and oversee the entire design process from concept through permitting and construction documentation. You will define critical equipment specifications, approve equipment submittals, and support construction phases including commissioning and turnover. The role requires collaboration with utilities, vendors, manufacturers, and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance and optimal design outcomes.

Experience
- Knowledge of critical data centre mechanical and electrical equipment
- Experience in data centre design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance
- Experience in industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities such as data centres, power generation, or oil and gas facilities
- Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods for data centre equipment and facilities

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or above in Mechanical Engineering
- Professional Engineering or Architectural License (preferred)
- Knowledge of building codes and regulations relevant to your region (preferred)
- Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and deployment or mass production (preferred)
- Proficiency in reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents (preferred)
