About the Role
As a Medical Receptionist at Bridge Lane Group Practice, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of the appointment system and patient flow within the practice. You will monitor the waiting room and ensure the Reception Team is aware of all patients and their needs. Responsibilities include managing patient self-arrival monitors, prioritising urgent consultations in a logical and non-disruptive manner, and explaining practice arrangements to new and temporary patients. You will ensure all patient registration procedures and forms are correctly completed and processed on the computer system. Handling payments, issuing receipts, and recording transactions accurately will also be part of your duties.
You will respond promptly to patient and visitor queries, assist patients requiring interpreters, and manage home visit requests through Emis Web. Working closely with the Triage GP, you will action patient requests and manage AccuRx inboxes according to practice policy. Additional responsibilities include sorting incoming mail, monitoring and responding to practice emails, scanning clinical letters into patient records, and ensuring repeat prescriptions are processed within two working days.
You will also coordinate ambulance transportation requests, maintain a tidy reception and waiting area, and follow complaint procedures when necessary. On occasions when cleaning staff are absent, you may be asked to perform essential domestic tasks. Additionally, you will ensure all visitors sign the visitors book and notify the relevant staff member of their arrival.
This role requires excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a busy healthcare environment while providing compassionate patient care.
